How to benefit from the expanding BOPP market?

Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene or BOPP film is a polypropylene film that has been stretched in both directions to achieve superior strength, durability, and clarity. It is often used as a food-grade wrapping film and for laminated packaging. The most common use for BOPP tape is in the food packaging industry, where it is used to package a variety of food items. BOPP film is also used in the printing industry, as it provides a high-quality printing surface. Additionally, BOPP film is used in a variety of other industries, such as the electronics industry, where it is used to protect electronic components.

BOPP film is made by extruding polypropylene resin through a slit die. The extruded material is stretched in both the longitudinal (machine) and transverse directions. The stretching process orients the long chains of polypropylene molecules, resulting in a strong, clear film. BOPP film can be heat-sealed, cold-sealed, or adhesive-coated. The film has good optical properties, high gloss, and good stiffness. It is moisture resistant and has good heat resistance. BOPP film is also used for lamination, and metallization, and as a substrate for printing and coating. BOPP tape is available in a wide range of thicknesses, colors, and surface finishes.

BOPP film has a number of advantages over other types of film. It is highly transparent and has a high gloss, making it ideal for packaging applications where product visibility is important. Additionally, the film is heat-resistant, moisture resistant, has high clarity, is lightweight, and has a high tensile strength. BOPP tape is also resistant to tearing and is easily printable and hence used for a variety of applications, such as food packaging, product labeling, and gift wrapping.

Since its inception in the early 1970s, the BOPP film industry in India has grown by leaps and bounds. Today, the country is home to numerous BOPP tape manufacturers, who cater to the growing demand for the product in both the domestic and international markets. The market is driven by the growing demand for food packaging, as well as the increasing use of BOPP film in labels and tapes. The industry is also benefiting from the growing demand for flexible packaging, as the film is a key material used in flexible packaging.

The growth of the BOPP film industry in India can be attributed to a number of factors. First and foremost, the country has a large and growing population, which creates a huge potential market for the product. Additionally, the Indian economy is booming, and this has led to an increase in purchasing power among the population. This, in turn, has resulted in a growing demand for packaged and processed food, which is where BOPP tape comes in.

Another factor that has contributed to the growth of the BOPP film industry in India is the government's supportive policies. The government has been very supportive of the industry, and has provided a number of incentives and subsidies to encourage its growth. Additionally, the government has also been proactive in setting up a number of infrastructure projects, which has made it easier for BOPP tape manufacturers to set up and expand their operations in the country.

Since the early 2000s, the growth of BOPP film manufacturers in India has been nothing short of spectacular. In just over a decade, the country has gone from being a relatively small player in the global BOPP market to becoming the second-largest producer of the film in the world. Today, there are many BOPP tape manufacturers, who are constantly investing in new technology and expanding their production capacities to meet the growing demand.

How to substitute aluminum foil for good health?

Aluminium foil is a common household item that has been used since many years for various purposes, from cooking to packaging. There are, however, potential risks to health and the environment from using it. According to some studies, the chemicals from the chemically treated aluminum foil can seep into food.

Aluminum is a neurotoxic heavy metal associated with health problems like Alzheimer's disease as well as the dysfunction of particular brain regions, including memory loss, loss of coordination, and loss of self-control. Owing to these health concerns, people are increasingly looking for alternatives for aluminium foil replacement.

Another main issue with using
chemically treated aluminum foil is that the aluminium can accumulate in bones and replace calcium, thereby lowering the quality of bones. Because the calcium is not deposited in the bones, individuals with excessive amounts of aluminum in their bones have high levels of calcium in their blood.

This prevents the mineralization of bones and causes osteoporosis. Additionally, high concentrations of aluminium reduce the growth rate of human brain cells. Experts are hence looking for aluminium foil replacements to substitute its usage.

There is a growing need for aluminium foil replacement also due to the negative environmental impacts of its production and disposal as well. Chemically treated aluminium foil is a major contributor to land and water pollution, and its production uses large amounts of energy and water.

While most aluminum products can be recycled indefinitely, aluminum foil can only be recycled a few times before it becomes too damaged to be used again. Additionally, aluminium foil is not biodegradable and can take centuries to break down in landfill.

There are a number of sustainable alternatives to chemically treated aluminium foil, such as beeswax wraps, that can be reused multiple times and are biodegradable. Another option is to use silicone lids, that are also reusable and can be placed on top of bowls and containers.

The market for aluminium foil replacement is small but growing. Currently, the primary users of aluminium foil replacements are restaurants and catering companies that use it to line baking pans, reduce clean-up time and prevent food from sticking to pans.
